Instructions for WC450c Firmware Update Level 3.23 Note: If you already have an update diskette and are not downloading this file from the web, please skip to step eight. 1. Click on the link 450fw323.exe to save (not open) this file to a blank, formatted 1.44 Mb floppy diskette in your A: drive. 2. Windows 3.x and Windows 95 users: Reboot the PC in DOS mode(not a DOS window). To do this if you are using Windows 3.x: Click the file menu at the top of your Program Manager. Click Exit Windows. Click the O.K. button in the confirmation box that appears. To do this if you are using Windows 95\98: Click the Start button. Click Shut Down. Click Restart the computer in MS-DOS mode?. Click Yes\O.K.. Windows NT 4.0 users: Open an NT command prompt window as Follows: Click the Start button. Point to Programs. Click Command Prompt. 3. Make sure that the diskette containing the file 450fw323.exe is in the a: drive. At the DOS prompt or NT command line, type a: then press the Enter key. 4. Execute the file by typing 450fw323 then press the Enter key. 5. The following text will be displayed: WorkCentre 450c FW Update v.3.23 This program will extract its files to the diskette in your A: drive. You will then use this diskette to update the firmware on your Xerox WC 450c. If you would like to continue, please press Y, then press ENTER twice. Would you like to extract this archive (yes/no)? Type y then press Enter. 6. The following text will be displayed. Target directory: [a:] Press Enter. 7. The following text will be displayed. done: A:\LISEZMOI.TXT done: A:\FRANCAIS.BAT done: A:\ENGLISH.BAT done: A:\PRT1102.BIN done: A:\README.TXT done: A:\UPDATE.BAT done: A:\US323.BIN 7 files containing 809,275 bytes extracted. 8. Make sure that the diskette with the firmware update files (which you received or created from the downloaded exe file) is in the floppy drive. NT 4.0 users ONLY: Disable, suspend or exit all programs that may use the parallel port (printing, Zip utilities, etc.) Suspend the ControlCentre icon in your task tray, if already installed. 9. At the DOS prompt or NT command line, type [drive letter][colon] A: and press the Enter key. 10. Type: Update LPT1 and press the Enter key. If your WC450c is attached to another port (e.g. LPT2), use that port name instead of LPT1. 11. IMPORTANT: READ AND FOLLOW ALL DIRECTIONS ON THE SCREEN. FAILURE TO DO SO MAY CAUSE PROBLEMS. 12. Windows 3.x, Windows 95, and DOS users: When the update is complete press Ctrl-Alt-Del to reboot your PC. Windows NT 4.0 users: Close the NT command prompt window to return to your desktop. Un-suspend the ControlCentre icon in your task tray, if already installed.
