Firmware Downloading Instructions for the Xk35c



This procedure will only run on Win 95/98 systems.



1) You may wish to print out these instructions now for future reference. Make sure the PC and Xk35c are connected with a parallel cable and both are turned on.

2) Double click on the self-extracting file.

3) Click on the Verify Information button.

4) When the information is verified click on the upgrade option now button.

5) The LED Xk35c screen will turn blank. In the center of the panel you will see the color ink cartridge, black ink cartridge and the paper jam lights. They will be lit until the upgrade is complete. On the Computer screen you will see the upgrade process in progress. Once the upgrade is complete the LED will show 001. 



        ********** Please Note***********



During firmware upgrade: If the Xk35c only shows the 3 red lights on the panel and does not respond and show the 001, power off the Xk35c and unplug both the power cable and the printer cable. Leave Xk35c in this state for 15 minutes to clear the machine. At this point plug power and printer cables back into the Xk35c. Power up Xk35c and attempt the firmware upgrade a second time.



6) At this point the scanner of the Xk35c must be calibrated. 

To enter Service Mode: please press the following key combination sequentially. 

Up key (1), 1-50 key (2), Menu key (3), Down key (4) At this point S01 should be displayed on the LED.





 



7) Press the Menu key (3) and confirm that H01 appears on the LED, then press the Start key. The XK35c will print three graphs on one sheet of paper, which you may discard.  The Xk35c will return to service mode.  At this point the machine must be powered off, and powered on.

8) The firmware downloading process has been completed.

9) Align the print cartridges per the Quick reference Card or User Guide.
