XP Printer Driver Installation Instructions

Removal of any XJ6C drivers prior to this installation is 

recommended. If the "Found New Hardware" window 

appears at any point in this installation, click on "cancel".

1. Select the link to download the driver form the Xerox web page. 

Select the "Run this program from it's current location" radio 

button, then click on OK to copy the files to your PC.  Close the

browser program (I.E. Internet Explorer).



2. Click on "Start", then click "Control Panel", then click 

"Printers and Other Hardware", then click "Add a printer".



3. After the "Add Printer Wizard" window appears, click "Next".

(If "Found New Hardware" window appears click on "cancel") 



4. Select "Local printer attached to this computer", uncheck the 

"Automatically detect and install my plug and Play printer" box 

if it is checked then click "Next".



5. Click "Next" (to select LPT1 as the printer port to be used).  



6. Click "Have Disk". 



7. Click "Browse" and click on the down arrow to the right of 

"Look in:", select "Local disk (C:)", then select "xrxxj6c", click 

"Open" (or the folder you directed the driver files to be 

copied to), select the file xDPCXJM and then click "Open".



8. Click "OK" (to accept the path displayed).  



9. Select your printer from the list and click "Next".



10. If the "Use Existing Driver" screen appears, select 

"Replace existing driver" then click "Next". Click "Next" 

(to accept the name and make this your default printer).



11. Click "Next" (to automatically print a test print). 



12. Click "Finish".



13. Select "Continue Anyway".



14. Once the printer driver is installed, you should turn off bidirectional

    support. To do this, take the following steps:



15. Click on the "Start" button at the bottom left corner of your screen,

    and choose "Control Panel".



16. Click on the "Printers and Other Hardware" selection.



17. Click on "View installed printers or fax printers"



18. Right click on "Xerox DocuPrint XJ6C", and choose "Properties".



19. Click on the "Ports" tab.



20. Make sure that the "Enable bidrectional support" checkbox is UNCHECKED.



21. Click on the "Apply" button.



22. Click on the "OK" button.
