Automatically Installing Multiple Printers Connected via the TCP/IP Network (LPD)
This section explains the settings for printing from a computer to printers connected to the network via TCP/IP (LPD, Port9100).
Here, multiple printers can be added simultaneously. Printers connected via TCP/IP (LPD, Port9100) to the same subnet as the selected computer will automatically be searched, and all printers found can be added.

Before Installation
Check the following before you begin installation:
Check that the required network environment for adding the printer to the selected computer has been set up.
The network environment should be as follows:
- OS: Windows 2000/XP, Windows Server 2003 or Windows Vista
- Connection mode: Standard TCP/IP Port, Port9100
- Service client: -
- Protocol: Internet protocol (TCP/IP)
- Note
- Check the following before you use the TCP/IP protocol:
- Windows 2000/XP, Windows Server 2003 or Windows Vista:
- Check that "Internet Protocol (TCP/IP)" has already been installed. If not, refer to the customer documentation for Windows 2000/XP, Windows Server 2003 or Windows Vista and install it.
Check with your administrator to confirm the following:
- a. Target printer is connected via TCP/IP, and the SNMP (UDP) agent is activated
- b. Target printer is in the local subnet
- c. IP address is specified in the target printer
- Note
-
- Automatic search will not be carried out for printers that do not satisfy conditions a and b.
- If condition c is not known, the target printer cannot be specified when more than one printer of the same type are found. (If all the printers found are to be specified for printing, it does not matter if the IP addresses of the individual printers are not known.)
