The status in this map will propagate to the device icon and upwards. In order to maintain the integrity of the IP map, the Xerox agent status propagation is set to be displayed within the device space (without propagation to the device or to the remainder of the IP map). This will allow the IP map to behave in the same manner with or without CentreWare for HP OpenView NNM installed. ========================================================== 9) Added Features ========================================================== 1) Xerox CentreWare Web Launch has been added as a new feature that allows user to configure and launch the configured CentreWare Web server's home page. This feature is currently supported as a Java based application on HPUX. Following would be the pre-requisites to use this feature successfully... a) Latest JDK kit (v1.4 onwards) should be installed on the target machine. Use the following command to find the installed java version: java -version. b) The environment variable CLASSPATH should be set in .dtprofile as CLASSPATH=$CLASSPATH:/opt/OV/bin:. NOTE: Refer to the sample .dtprofile entry at the end of step 1. c) export CLASSPATH d) The environment variable PATH should be set in .dtprofile as PATH=$PATH: e) export PATH f) Log off and then Log On your machine so that updated profile entries can be picked. #### Sample .dtprofile entries required for CWW server access by HPUX with jdk1.4 installed.... CLASSPATH=$CLASSPATH:/opt/OV/bin:/opt/jdk1.4/jre/lib export CLASSPATH PATH=$PATH:/opt/OV/jre1.4/bin export PATH Note: In .dtprofile file make sure entries are under section ####Entries made by Xerox CentreWare Plugin 2) Updates to "Xerox Usage Counter" Feature (Windows platform only) The export file naming convention used by the application was... For All Devices..... Xrx_UsageCount_All.csv For Single Device.....Xrx_UsageCount_.csv. Now it is modified to For All Devices..... Xrx_UsageCount_All_--MYear>_--.csv. For Single Device.....Xrx_UsageCount__--MYear>_--.csv. where Month Name is first three letters of the month. Backup feature has been removed as the file name very much signifies when the report file was generated. Usage Counter application for any device that supports Embedded Fax and Server Fax service options, will store the counters based on the options that are enabled when the device is polled to fetch usage counters. For example, if the device has Server Fax option enabled, when Usage Counter application polls it, counters pertaining to Server Fax option will be stored. Now, if user disables Server Fax option & enables the Embedded Fax option for the device, then in the next poll, Usage Counter application will now store the counters for Embedded Fax option and the field values for the counters pertaining to Server Fax option will be stored and viewed in reports as 0. Usage Counter Data Delete option has been added to clean-up the usage counter historical data. Usage counter report shows both the Usage Counters and Billing Meters Separately. ========================================================== 10) KNOWN ISSUES ========================================================== 1) On Windows XP systems, local Firewall can cause the Traps not to be received on the machine as incoming traffic is restricted. Please disable the local Firewall after consulting with your system Administrator. 2) The Usage Counter feature is only supported for Windows platforms. 3) Inconsistent behavior with Traps being received may result on a Windows XP System only having SP1 installed. It is recommended that SP2 be installed. 4) Xerox CentreWare for HP OpenView plugin un-installation opens the OpenView NNM GUI, which may pop the "Tip of the day" dialog box, that does not get closed automatically and requires user intervention to close it. 5) TrapRegistration gives, TrapRegistration is successful message, even if the device is already registered. 6) Sometimes the TrapRegistration/UnRegistration fails for some device/s. One of the reasons could be a non-default read/write community string set on the device/s. To take care of this, our plugin copies the file Xrx_CommString.ini in the /Xerox folder, during the respective plugin installation. Manually edit this file to enter the relevant community entries under the [GetCommunityString] and [SetCommunityString] sections and then increment the getCommunityCount and setCommunityCount values depending on the number of entries in each section using the correct format. Save the file without editing any other sections of the file. This file normally contains the default public and private entries. 7) Canceling the plugin un-installation process in Solaris & HPUX could leave your OpenView unusable. Although pressing the cancel button will pop up a message asking the user to confirm their decision, canceling the uninstall should still be avoided. 8) For some of the Xerox devices, the user might see these two generic message logged in the Alarm Browser.. a) Trap found with no known format in trapd.conf Enterprise(1.3.6.1.4.1.253.8.59.19.4.0.0).... b) Trap found with no known format in trapd.conf Enterprise(1.3.6.1.4.1.253.8.83.2.0.0.0.0).... These trap messages are the result of the Job monitoring traps sent by the device, please ignore them. 9) In Solaris, if after TrapRegistration, traps are not received in the Alarm Browser, please open the file /var/opt/OV/share/ovactiond.log, and look for the entries below...
