The upgrade process relys on a batch file called upgrade.bat which in turn uses the copy command. In some rare cases, the copy command may not work correctly. Symptoms of this include: 1. The upgrade.bat file never closes (NT users) or when trying to close the Command Prompt Window, Windows notifies you that you are trying to terminate a task that is still running (95/98, 3.x users). 2. When upgrade.bat is run, the printer's lights don't blink immediately. The solution to this problem is to execute the upgrade2.bat file which is located inside each .exe file: up_p1202, up_ps2, set_a4 and set_letr. To accomplish this task, follow these steps: -- Windows 95/98 and NT users: Use Nico Mak's WinZip software program to unzip the contents of the program you're trying to run into your working directory. For example, Using the Windows Explorer or My Computer, locate the file you wish to run, e.g. up_p1202.exe. Click once on the file with the left mouse button to select it. Right-click once on the file which will bring up a list of menu items for the file. Select "Extract to ..." Choose the current directory, so type in ".", i.e. a period then click on Extract. Double-left click on the upgrade2.bat file. Wait until all lights on the printer's front panel go off (approx. 1 min.). Turn printer OFF and ON. The procedure has been completed. -- DOS and Windows 3.x users: Nico Mak's WinZip program must be installed. Get to a command prompt. (Windows 3.x users should run MS-DOS Prompt) Change directory to the location of the upgrade files. Type: pkunzip up_p1202.exe Type: upgrade2 Wait until all lights on the printer's front panel go off (approx. 1 min.). Turn printer OFF and ON. The procedure has been completed.
