This file contains information on the use of DocuWorksTM Image Capture 1.0.2 (hereafter DocuWorks Image Capture).
It describes the screens and operations using Windows® XP as an example. For those who use operating systems other than Windows® XP, please read accordingly.

1. Overview

DocuWorks Image Capture is a software application that works in conjunction with DocuWorks 5.0.5 or later. It periodically monitors a specified directory for image files (JPEG and TIFF). Once an image file is detected it is converted into a DocuWorks documents and deposited into the DocuWorks Desktop.

2. Installing DocuWorks Image Capture


2-1. Installation Requirements

DocuWorks Image Capture Requirements:
- DocuWorks 5.0.5 or later Hardware/Software requirements.
- DocuWorks 5.0.5 or later must be installed on your PC.

2-2. Notes on Installation

- Before you begin installation, be sure to exit all running applications.
- To install DocuWorks Image Capture in Windows® 2000, Windows® XP, or Windows Vista® environments, Administration privileges are required.

2-3. Installation Procedure

1. Double click on setup.exe for DocuWorks Image Capture.
The DocuWorks Image Capture installer starts and the [DocuWorks Image Capture Setup] dialog box appears.
2. Verify the displayed contents, and then click [Next].
The [License Agreement] dialog box appears.
3. Verify the information displayed in the DocuWorks Image Capture licensing agreement. If you agree to the licensing conditions, click [I accept terms in the license agreement], and then click [Next].
The [Choose Destination Location] diaplog box appears.
4. Verify the installation directory. If you want to change the directory, click [Browse]. If not, click [Next].
The [Create shortcut in startup menu] dialog box appears.
5. If DocuWorks Image Capture is to be enabled automatically on start-up, please select [Create DocuWorks Image Capture shortcut in startup menu], and then click [Next].
By checking this box, a shortcut to DocuWorks Image Capture will be placed in the start-up menu which will automatically start DocuWorks Image Capture once the operating system is launched.
6. Verify the settings, then click [Next].
Installation begins.
When the installation is completed, the [Setup completed] dialog box appears.
7. Click [Finish].

3. Uninstalling DocuWorks Image Capture

By uninstalling DocuWorks Image Capture, all related files that were created during installation are deleted from your PC's hard disk.

3-1. Uninstallation Notes

- DocuWorks Image Capture must be closed before uninstallation.
- Administator privileges are required to unistall DocuWorks Image Capture (Windows® 2000, Windows® XP, or Windows Vista®).
- All files created by the user in the installation directory will not be deleted.

3-2. Uninstallation Procedure

1. Click [Start] on the Windows® task bar, then select [Control Panel].
2. Double-click [Add or Remove Programs].
3. In the [Add or Remove Programs] dialog box, select [Xerox DocuWorks Image Capture 1.0.2] and then click [Change/Remove].
4. When the [Confirm Uninstall] dialog box appears, verify the contents and then click [OK] to begin the uninstallation.
Uninstallation begins.
5. Click [Finish].
The user will be prompted with a dialog box if there are files that could not be deleted as part of the uninstall process.

4. Starting and Exiting DocuWorks Image Capture

For details on menu commands and dialog boxes of DocuWorks Image Capture, refer to Help. To display Help, select [Help] from the context menu displayed by right-clicking the DocuWorks Image Capture icon in the task tray.

4-1. Starting

You can start DocuWorks Image Capture using either one of the following two methods:

4-1-1. Starting DocuWorks Image Capture using the [Start] button

Click [Start] from the Windows® taskbar, then select [All Programs] > [Xerox] > [DocuWorks] > [DocuWorks Image Capture].
The icon appears in the task tray.
If the polling directory has not yet been specified, the icon indicates suspending status.
If the polling directory has been already specified, the icon indicates polling status.

4-1-2. Starting DocuWorks Image Capture using the command line

You can start DocuWorks Image Capture from the command prompt using the dwimgcap.exe command.
The dwimgcap.exe files is located in the following default directory:

"C:\Program Files\Xerox\DocuWorks\bin\dwimgcap.exe"

The icon appears in the task tray.
If the polling directory has not yet been specified, the icon indicates suspending status.
If the polling directory has been already specified, the icon indicates polling status.

4-1-3. Initial configration

You must perform the Initial configration when you start DocuWorks Image Capture for the first time.
1. When you start DocuWorks Image Capture for the first time, the message "The polling directory has not been set up." appears.
The icon in the task tray indicates suspending status.
2. Click [OK] to display the [DocuWorks Image Capture Settings] dialog box.
3. Ensure the [General] tab is displayed.
4. Enter the path to the polling directory.
You can use the [Browse] button to navigate and select the appropriate folder.
5. Set the appropriate polling interval by changing the value.
6. Click [OK] to close the setting.
The polling starts and the icon indication in the task tray changes to polling status.

4-2. Exiting

Right-click the icon in the task tray and select [Close] from the displayed context menu.

5. Notes and Restrictions

The following covers notes and restrictions on operating DocuWorks Image Capture.
- Image formats supported for convertion by DocuWorks Image Capture:
JPEG, TIFF Revision 6.0 (No Compression, G3 1d, G3 2d, G4, JPEG, PackBits), TIFF-FX, TIFF Jpeg Compression 7.0
- Maximum file (JPEG and TIFF) size supported by DocuWorks Image Capture:
JPEG - 50 MB
TIFF - 250 MB

5-1. Operation

If the conversion is stopped or DocuWorks Image Capture closes while the conversion is in progress, the aborted image files will remain in the polling directory. These files will be converted in the next polling period.

An incomplete DocuWorks document may be created if DocuWorks Image Capture is forcibly closed such as by shutting down the operating system. In this case, however, the original image file remains on the disk. A normal DocuWorks document will be re-converted if DocuWorks Image Chapter is started again.

5-2. Memory and performance

If the PC memory or hard disk space is insufficient, the user will notice strange characters displayed in message boxes.

PLEASE READ THE FOLLOWING SOFTWARE LICENSE AGREEMENT CAREFULLY BEFORE INSTALLING THIS SOFTWARE. BY INSTALLING THIS SOFTWARE, YOU SHALL BE DEEMED THAT YOU INDICATE YOUR ACCEPTANCE OF THE FOLLOWING SOFTWARE LICENSE AGREEMENT. IF YOU DO NOT ACCEPT ALL OF THE TERMS OF THIS AGREEMENT, YOU MUST NOT INSTALL THIS SOFTWARE.
SOFTWARE LICENSE AGREEMENT
1. Grant of License
In accordance with the terms and conditions of this Software License Agreement ("the Agreement"), Xerox Canada Ltd.("Xerox") grants you ("Customer") a non-assignable, non-transferable and nonexclusive license to use the DocuWorks Image Capture Version 1.0 NA software which consists of program and related documentation ("the Software"), on Customer's computer which has the DocuWorks Version 6.x/7.x NA software installed.
2. Rights of Software
All intellectual properties including but not limited to copyrights of the Software are retained by Xerox and/or its suppliers.
3. No Warranty
THE SOFTWARE IS PROVIDED ON "AS IS" BASIS. XEROX MAKES NO WARRANTIES, EXPRESS OR IMPLIED, AS TO MERCHANTABILITY, OR FITNESS FOR ANY PARTICULAR PURPOSE. TO THE MAXUMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY APPLICABLE LAW, IN NO EVENT WILL XEROX BE LIABLE TO CUSTOMER FOR ANY CONSEQUENTIAL, INCIDENTAL OR SPECIAL DAMAGES, INCLUDING ANY LOST PROFITS OR LOST SAVING, EVEN IF XEROX HAS BEEN ADVISED OF THE POSSIBILITY OF SUCH DAMAGES, OR FOR ANY CLAIM BY ANY THIRD PARTY.
4. Restrictions
Customer shall not do the following acts:
(a) Use or copy the Software except as expressly permitted herein;
(b) Modify, translate, reverse engineer, decompile or disassemble the Software;
(c) Assign, rent or sublicense the Software to any third party;
(d) Delete or alter copyright, trademark and other intellectual property notices on or in the Software.
5. Termination
(1) License to use the Software will be automatically terminated in case that Customer fails to comply with any of the terms and conditions in this Agreement.
(2) Upon termination of license to use the Software, Customer shall immediately expunge or destroy the Software.
6. Other Provisions
(1) This agreement is governed by the laws of Canada and the laws of Ontario.
(2) If any part of this Agreement is found void and unenforceable, it will not affect the validity of the Agreement, which shall remain valid and enforceable according to its terms.

Copyright of this software and its backup belong to Fuji Xerox and its licensor.
